About the Conference

Research Has the Power to Change What's Possible.

The New England McNair Undergraduate Research & Creative Scholarship Conference brings undergraduate scholars, faculty mentors, graduate programs, and research communities together to share ideas, celebrate discovery, and imagine what comes next.

November 5–7, 2026 Suffolk University Boston, Massachusetts

What is NE-MURCS?

A place for ideas, discovery, and belonging.

NE-MURCS is a conference dedicated to showcasing undergraduate research and creative scholarship across disciplines. It creates space for students to share the questions they are exploring, the knowledge they are building, and the work they are proud to bring into the world.

Just as importantly, the conference creates opportunities to connect. Scholars can learn from one another, engage with faculty and experienced researchers, strengthen their presentation skills, and explore the possibilities of graduate education.

Hosted by Suffolk University in downtown Boston, NE-MURCS brings together a community that believes undergraduate scholarship deserves to be seen, heard, discussed, and celebrated.

All Disciplines From scientific inquiry to the arts, humanities, and creative practice.
Three Days Research presentations, workshops, conversations, and community.
What's Next? Connections to graduate study, mentorship, and future opportunities.

The NE-MURCS Experience

Three ideas at the heart of our conference.

NE-MURCS is more than a venue for presenting research. It is an opportunity to practice being a scholar, discover new perspectives, and build relationships that can continue beyond the conference.

01 / SHARE

Celebrate the Work

Give undergraduate research and creative scholarship a public platform. Through poster sessions, oral presentations, and discussion, students communicate their ideas and learn from the work of others.

02 / CONNECT

Build Your Community

Bring students, faculty mentors, researchers, and graduate-school representatives into conversation. Discover new approaches, exchange ideas, and build connections across institutions and disciplines.

03 / IMAGINE

Explore What's Next

Develop confidence as a presenter, learn from experienced scholars, explore graduate education, and begin imagining new possibilities for your academic and professional future.

A Shared Community

Who is NE-MURCS for?

Scholarship grows through exchange. NE-MURCS brings together people at different stages of the research journey, each with something valuable to contribute.

Engage with interdisciplinary work and contribute to a broader community committed to research, mentorship, and student growth.

Beyond One Definition of Research

What do we mean by creative scholarship?

Scholarship does not always look like a traditional research paper or laboratory study. Creative scholarship brings artistic practice and scholarly inquiry together. It may explore a research question through storytelling, visual art, performance, sound, design, or digital media.

What matters is the thoughtful process behind the work: the questions being asked, the ideas being explored, the context informing the project, and the meaning the creator invites others to consider.
